Kitchen And Cabinet Painting Project in Deakin, Canberra

One of our recent renovations was a full kitchen refresh at 22 Fergusson Crescent in Deakin. In this kitchen cabinet painting project Deakin Canberra we combined cabinet refinishing, full wall repaint, splashback installation and minor plumbing upgrades to transform an older kitchen into a bright, functional space.
This kitchen cabinet painting project Deakin Canberra began with a careful survey of the existing joinery and substrate. Old finishes were stripped where necessary, cabinet doors and drawer fronts were removed and labeled, and all surfaces were degreased and sanded to ensure an even primer bond. New splashback tiles were installed and plumbing fixtures were upgraded before the final paint and hardware fit-off.
All cabinet doors, drawer fronts and carcasses were removed, labelled and set aside for controlled workshop-style refinishing. Surfaces were degreased to remove kitchen oils, then sanded to a consistent tooth; any dents, edge damage or screw holes were spot-repaired with cabinet-grade filler and feathered flush.
Surrounding walls and the ceiling were assessed and repaired where required. loose paint was removed, cracks and small holes were filled, and patched areas were feathered to match existing profiles. After a full dust-down and spot priming of repaired zones, the walls and ceiling were painted using a two-coat system to ensure even colour and opacity.
A patterned tile splashback was chosen for both practical durability and decorative impact. The existing wall was prepared to a true, plumb plane; tiles were set with an appropriate adhesive, spaced evenly and grouted with a water-resistant grout. Edges were sealed with a paintable flexible sealant where they met joinery or benchtops to prevent moisture ingress.
Sink plumbing and tap fittings were inspected, any worn connectors or seals replaced, and new fittings were installed or re-polished as specified. All joints were pressure-tested and re-sealed to ensure watertight performance, and trap and waste fittings were aligned for easy access and maintenance. The plumbing finish was coordinated with the renewed cabinetry so that visible hardware and tapware matched the refreshed aesthetic.
Throughout the project a strict protection regime was maintained: floors and adjacent joinery were covered with heavy-duty drop sheets and protective board where trades moved frequently, and all fixtures and appliances were masked or temporarily removed as required. Work was staged to minimise disruption, and daily cleanups ensured the kitchen remained usable where possible.
